FOUR-WAY STOP IN PLAY FOR THORPE ROAD/DOÑA ANA ROAD INTERSECTION

The Doña Ana County Engineering Office – in conjunction with the New Mexico Department of Transportation – will post four-way stop signs at the intersection of Thorpe and Doña Ana Roads. The new signs will go up on July 12, 2006.

Commuters who regularly use the intersection will notice signs on June 28 warning that the change is coming. On July 12, 48-inch stop signs will be installed, and the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department will begin enforcement.

The change is spurred by an increasing number of accidents at the intersection as traffic in the area increases. The change also is the result of an official recommendation from the New Mexico State Police and the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
