COMMISSION SEEKS VOLUNTEERS TO CRITIQUE ELECTION PROCESS

Citing ongoing concerns about how elections in Doña Ana County are conducted and canvassed, the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners today announced the planned formation of a non-partisan task force to review election training, poll procedures, polling-place assignments and canvassing protocols.

Doña Ana County residents who are registered voters and who are interested in serving on the task force are encouraged to deliver letters of interest and resumes to the Doña Ana County Special Projects Office at 845 N. Motel Blvd. in Las Cruces. The Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners will appoint task force members at 3 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2006, when they reconvene as the Doña Ana County Canvassing Board.

In order to be considered for appointment to the task force, residents must be registered voters in Doña Ana County of any recognized political party (Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Greens, etc.) and they must hand-deliver their letter of interest and resume to the Doña Ana County Government Center no later than noon, Friday, June 16, 2006.
