LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS PLAN CAR WASH TO BENEFIT COLLEAGUE

Officers from the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department, the Doña Ana County Detention Center, the New Mexico State Police, the Las Cruces Police Department and the New Mexico State University Fire Department will volunteer their time on Saturday, June 10, for a benefit car wash, proceeds of which will go to the family of Deputy Scott Knoll. Other agencies may also participate.

Knoll was critically injured April 20 while responding to a train-car collision south of Las Cruces. His motorcycle collided with a car while he was en route to the other accident. Knoll was thrown over the car, which then rolled on top of him. He suffered multiple broken bones. His convalescence is expected to take months or years.

The car wash is a way for his colleagues to assist Knoll and his family with expenses while he is unable to work.

The car wash will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the K-Mart parking lot on El Paseo Drive in Las Cruces.
