DOÑA ANA COUNTY VOTERS IN LINE FOR INFORMATION CARDS

The New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office has notified the Doña Ana County Bureau of Elections that state-issued voter-information cards will be mailed soon to registered voters who live in Doña Ana County.

Although the New Mexico Legislature passed a law requiring voters to prove their identification at the polls beginning this year, the voter-identification cards are not required for voting.

Most voters will be able to announce or write their name, address, last four digits of their Social Security number and their year of birth in order to vote. They also may present a current utility bill, bank statement, student ID, paycheck, government check, an identification card issued by an Indian tribe, Indian nation or pueblo, or other government document showing name and address. All are acceptable under the new law.

The Doña Ana County Bureau of Elections remains open for early voting through June 3, in advance of the June 6 Primary Elections. The Bureau of Elections is located in the Doña Ana County Courthouse at 251 W. Amador Ave. in Las Cruces.

Early voting at the Courthouse is open Friday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Additional early-voting sites are from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, June 2, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 3, in the following locations:

* Anthony Community Center at 675 N. Main St., Anthony, N.M.
