Doña Ana County’s move to the new Government Center began May 1 and continues through June 19 in 11 increments. (See schedule below.)

The phased move of Doña Ana County’s offices to the new Government Center at 845 N. Motel Blvd. is underway. The building does not, however, open to the public until 8 a.m. Friday, May 12.

Beginning May 12, public access will be limited to departments that already have relocated and become operational. Additional lobbies and office areas will open on a phased basis, according to the move schedule.

Flyers posted in most buildings and a notice on the county's Internet homepage already are alerting the public to computer-system down-time scheduled for May 19-22, when the county’s main servers will be physically moved.

During each move phase, each department will delegate a skeleton crew to remain at the old location to assist the movers with decision-making and a point person to go to the new building to answer movers’ questions.

Each department will work quickly at the new location to unpack, regroup and open to the public in the new location. There will be some unavoidable disruptions of service in most departments. The goal, however, is to move quickly and efficiently with the least amount of disruption of services to the public.

The Public Information Office is working with area radio stations and newspapers to keep the public apprised of the move status on a week-by-week basis.

Our new address in the Doña Ana County Government Center is 845 N. Motel Blvd., Las Cruces, N.M. 88007.

Reporters seeking more information or interviews may call county Public Information Director Jess Williams at (505) 647-7229.
