$10,000 REWARD OFFERED FOR INFORMATION ON DAIRY FIRES

A coalition of Doña Ana County dairy owners has announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest, prosecution and conviction of the arsonist(s) responsible for two hay fires last week at the Buena Vista Dairy Farms near Vado.

Buena Vista Dairy Manager Jim Garmatz and Doña Ana County Sheriff Todd Garrison announced today that the reward funds are in escrow at Mountain States Escrow. The reward will be paid upon conviction of the responsible parties.

Calls and information about the arsons will be processed through the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department main number at (505) 525-1911. Callers may remain anonymous.

Doña Ana County Fire Marshal Paul Chavez has estimated damage from the hay fires at more than $150,000. More than 25 volunteer firefighters from six fire stations responded to the blazes.
