COMMUNITY CENTERS TO HOST CHILDREN’S DAY FESTIVITIES

The annual Day of the Child (Dia del Niño) will be celebrated at various events scheduled for community centers throughout Doña Ana County. Each event will feature music, food, games and prizes for children and families in rural communities.

In addition to county commissioners in whose districts the events take place, county attendees will include coordinators and managers from the county’s Department of Health and Human Services.

The schedule for the events is as follows:

* 9 a.m.-1 p.m., April 8: Chaparral Community Resource Center. This event will feature Ident-a-Child fingerprinting services, a bingo game and a jumping balloon for the children.

* Noon-2 p.m., April 9: Radium Springs Community Resource Center. This event will feature a cakewalk, a jumping balloon, book giveaways, basketball contests and a bicycle rodeo.

* Noon-2 p.m., April 16: Lienzo Charro El Pedregal in Anhony. This event will feature ballet folklorico, a jumping balloon and a child rodeo.

* Noon-2 p.m., April 23: Organ Community Resource Center. This event will feature a kids’ mural, book giveaways, a jumping balloon, the Peter Piper Pizza mascot and other activities.

* Noon-2 p.m., April 30: Hatch Community Resource Center. This event will be a collaborative effort with the staff of Ben Archer Health Clinic. Rincon, Garfield and Rodey residents are invited to attend.

* Noon-2 p.m., May 7: Doña Ana Community Resource Center. This event will feature a kids’ mural, book giveaways, a jumping balloon, the Peter Piper Pizza mascot and other activities.
