CHAPARRAL MEETING SCHEDULED TO DISCUSS COMMUNITY SEWER SYSTEM

A community meeting will be held in Chaparral on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. at Chaparral Middle School, 290 East Lisa Dr.

The purpose of the meeting is to involve the public in efforts by Doña Ana County to provide wastewater collection and treatment for the community of Chaparral.

Representatives from the county, the design engineer, and Chaparral Wastewater System Steering Committee will be available to receive comments from residents and answer questions about the proposed system.

The proposed design for a Chaparral Wastewater System includes construction of a conventional gravity collection system and pressure conveyance system and a sequencing batch reactor treatment facility. Monthly user fees, connection charges and other financial information for the project will be discussed. The estimated project cost is $40 million.

The project facility plan and environmental information documents are available at the Colquitt Company, 301 Paseo Real Dr., during normal work hours and at the Stires Super Mart, 300 McCombs Rd., during normal work hours and after 5 p.m.

In the interest of available time, speaker questions/comments will be asked to limit oral comments to three minutes each.
