RESERVOIR EAST OF FARM AND RANCH MUSEUM RUNNING OVER; BREACH POSSIBLE

RESERVOIR EAST OF FARM AND RANCH MUSEUM RUNNING OVER; BREACH POSSIBLE

A makeshift dam east of the Bruce King Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum is overflowing and in danger of breaching. If the dam should breach, the area around the museum is in danger. Engineers do not believe that residents of the Golf Country Estates are in immediate danger from a gradual breach, but residents are advised that in the event of a sudden failure, some residential flooding could occur.

County engineering and flood-control crews are evaluating the situation. Dripping Springs Road has been closed to all through traffic. Water will cross the road heavily as it makes its way toward the Tortugas I Dam east of the NMSU Golf Course.

Baylor Canyon Road is being evaluated. Residents of Talavera and other neighborhoods east of Tortugas/A-Mountain may be landlocked in the event Baylor Canyon Road is or becomes impassable.

All residents in all areas where water is rising or running are strongly advised to seek higher ground until the rains abate.
