FLOODING ON ROADS AND INTERSTATES REPORTED; DRIVER’S ADVISORY ISSUED

Heavy rains in southern Doña Ana County have caused significant water runoff on I-10 west of Las Cruces and south of Las Cruces on I-25, particularly near mile marker 145 at the intersection of I-25 and I-10, where the roadway is completely covered with running water. Run-off presents a hazard to motorists, and State Police and the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office advise travelers to avoid these areas.

Heavy rains in the Radium Springs and A-Mountain areas have made road travel hazardous in those areas. Soledad Canyon Road and Dripping Springs Road are areas of particular concern, and motorists are advised to avoid these areas.

Residents who require sandbags can pick them up at any Las Cruces Fire Station or Doña Ana County Volunteer Fire Station.

Road crews from Doña Ana County are working road areas on a priority basis, as coordinated by the Emergency Operations Center. The EOC was officially activated at 3:11 p.m.

Residents are advised NOT to call 911 for sandbags. Please call 911 ONLY in the case of an emergency situation.

For more information, call the Emergency Operations Center at (505) 647-7914.
