COUNTY CLERK URGES ABSENTEE VOTERS TO MAIL APPLICATIONS LOCALLY

Doña Ana County Clerk Rita Torres, in conjunction with the local headquarters of both major political parties, is urging Doña Ana County residents to mail absentee-voter applications directly to the Doña Ana County Bureau of Elections.

Torres said a recent mass mailing by an organization called ACT-New Mexico includes absentee voter applications, with instructions to mail the forms back to the organization’s Albuquerque office. To ensure timely processing of those applications, Torres said, residents should instead mail the applications directly to the Doña Ana County Bureau of Elections at 251 W. Amador Ave, Las Cruces, N.M., 88001.

Deadline for applications to be received locally is Oct. 28, but Torres said applications already are being processed and absentee ballot mailing will begin Oct. 5.

For more information, call the Doña Ana County Bureau of Elections at (505) 647-7428. Residents calling from outside the Las Cruces area may call toll-free at 1-877-827-7200 and request extension 7428.
