WORK GETS UNDERWAY ON NEW COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE COMPLEX

Construction begins today on Doña Ana County’s new administrative complex on North Motel Boulevard. Wooten Construction of Las Cruces is the general contractor on the $20.1 million project. A ceremonial groundbreaking was held last December on the 24-acre county-owned site.

A host of Las Cruces area companies and firms will assist in the construction of the complex as sub-contractors.
When completed, the 154,000 square-foot administrative complex will boast a 300+ seat Commission Chambers and modern office space for all county administrative departments, including the County Assessor, County Clerk, County Probate Judge and County Treasurer. The Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department will be incorporated into a separate but connected building on the south end of the complex site.

The county set aside more than $23 million in bond proceeds and cash reserves to pay for the new complex. Most of the furnishings for the complex will be moved from existing county buildings.

County departments not expected to move into the new complex include the Fire Marshal and Office of Emergency Management, which are located on Solano Drive in the Doña Ana County Public Health Building, and the Roads Department, which has offices and mechanical shops on East Griggs.
