RESIDENTS ASKED TO PICK UP SAND BAGS AT COMMUNITY CENTER

Residents of the communities of Vado and Del Cerro who need sandbags are asked NOT to call 911. Sandbags are available for pick up at the Del Cerro Community Center on La Fe Road, just west of Interstate 10.

Heavy rains in the area tonight may require some residents to use sandbags to protect their property. Doña Ana County road crews are already on the scene in the Vado area and surrounding communities to anticipate problems and respond to them in a timely fashion.

A command post has been established at the Del Cerro Community Center. The Doña Ana County Emergency Operations Command Center has been activated to oversee response to this and other weather-related issues as they arise throughout the night.

Any problems with significant flooding should be reported to the Doña Ana County Office of Emergency Management at (505) 647-7916.

For more information, call county Public Information Director Jess Williams at (505) 647-7229.
