ASSESSOR'S OFFICE TO SET UP SHOP IN OUTLYING COMMUNITIES

Doña Ana County Assessor Gary Perez and his staff have coordinated a series of outreach sessions to the communities of Hatch, Sunland Park, Anthony and Chaparral to answer questions about property valuations and available exemptions. Assessor's Office staff will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following dates and locations:

Tuesday, March 16, Hatch Village Clerk's Office, 133 N. Franklin St.

Wednesday, March 17, Sunland Park City Hall, 1000 McNutt St., Suite A

Thursday, March 18, Anthony Senior Center, 875 N. Main St.

Friday, March 19, Chaparral Multi-Purpose Building, 190 County Line Rd.

Property owners who wish to protest their valuation notices or who have made significant property improvements in 2003 are encouraged to schedule time during the day to attend these sessions. Property owners who may qualify for exemptions based on veteran status, disability, age or head-of-household status also are encouraged to attend, as are property owners who are first-time agricultural users or whose land is used for religious or educational purposes.

Property owners in and around Las Cruces may visit the Assessor's Office in the County Courthouse at 251 W. Amador Ave. at any time during normal business hours to inquire about exemptions, valuation protests and other matters.

The deadline for ALL actions related to 2004 property assessments is March 31, 2004. Protests, exemptions, applications and other matters will not be processed after the deadline.
