SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT ROADBLOCK NETS 11 ARRESTS, 15 CITATIONS

A Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department roadblock near Anthony at N.M. 460 and Acosta on Friday night resulted in 11 arrests and the issuance of 15 citations.

Sheriff Juan Hernandez said three arrests were for aggravated DWI, while three others were for driving on suspended or revoked licenses. Two others were arrested for outstanding warrants, and a woman was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle. Two minors were taken into custody for allowing themselves to be served alcohol.

Deputies also issued five citations for driving without proof of insurance, five citations for driving without a valid license, two citations for improper vehicle registrations, and one citation each for a minor operating a motor vehicle, an open container and operating a vehicle with a fictitious license plate.

Hernandez said more checkpoints and roadblocks will be held throughout the county during the holiday season.
