FIRE PREVENTION WEEK ACTIVITIES PLANNED AT GARFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Doña Ana County Fire Prevention Specialists Mike Norton and Daniel Kolson will spend Friday morning, Oct. 10, at Garfield Elementary School to teach students there basic fire safety.

Norton and Kolson will conduct half-hour classes from 9-11 a.m. to teach the students such fire safety tactics as stop-drop-roll, evacuation planning and execution, smoke-detector maintenance and safe fire-extinguisher operations. They also will hand out free smoke detectors to students who indicate their homes are not equipped with the devices.

Garfield Elementary School is located at 8820 Highway 187 in northern Doña Ana County.
