ART RECEPTION TO BE HELD IN COUNTY MANAGER’S COMPLEX ON NOV. 21

A 49-piece exhibit of student artwork from the Las Cruces Public Schools has been installed in the Grand Lobby of the Doña Ana County Manager’s Complex at 180 W. Amador Ave. in Las Cruces. The exhibit includes paintings, etchings, sculpture, drawings and tapestries. The artists range in age from kindergartners to high school students.

The public is invited to the official opening of the LCPS show on Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and live music may be performed.

Also on exhibit are eight historic murals dating from the days when the Manager’s Complex operated as the Amador Hotel. The murals, by Lillian Egerton, were restored in 2002 by local artist Alex Rosa under a contract with the Frame and Art Center of Las Cruces. The $6,300 restoration and preservation project took about six months to complete.
