COUNTY SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR DWI ADVISORY BOARD POSITIONS

The Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners is seeking resumes and letters of interest from community members who wish to serve on the county’s DWI Advisory Council.

At their June 10 meeting, the commissioners approved a proposal by which the current structure of the advisory council will be modified, and a new council will be appointed at the July 8 meeting. The Commission is particularly interested in attracting applicants who have been directly affected by DWI in Doña Ana County. Past and present members of the existing DWI Council also are invited to apply.

Members of the new Doña Ana County DWI Advisory Council will be appointed to two-year terms of office and will be expected to attend quarterly council meetings. The council will advise the Board of County Commissioners about how best to expend approximately $650,000 in annual grant funding dedicated to preventing and prosecuting DWI in Doña Ana County.

To apply for a position on the new Doña Ana County DWI Advisory Council, send a letter of interest, a resume with contact information (including daytime telephone number) and three letters of reference to Silvia Sierra, Doña Ana County Director of Health and Human Services, 180 W. Amador Ave., Las Cruces, N.M. 88001. Deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2003.

For more information, call Silvia Sierra at (505) 647-7931. Residents calling from outside the Las Cruces area may call toll-free at 1-877-827-7200 and request extension 7931.
