DWI CHECKPOINT SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY

The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department will implement a DWI checkpoint Thursday night, May 22, at an undisclosed location in the county.

The checkpoint is scheduled from 8 p.m. to midnight. The sheriff’s department is partnering with the New Mexico State Police to conduct the checkpoint. Sheriff’s personnel at the checkpoint will be compensated through Operation DWI grant funding.

The sheriff’s department also continues its Selective Traffic Enforcement Program. Through a $15,000 grant, deputies work additional hours focusing on traffic safety and STEP programs such as Operation Buckle-Down.

Additional saturation patrols are planned through the month of May.
