VADO MAN ARRESTED ON CRIMINAL SEXUAL PENETRATION CHARGES

A Vado man was arrested Friday on eight criminal sexual penetration charges that may have resulted in the pregnancy of a 13-year-old girl.

Ignacio Gonzales, 19, is being held at the Doña Ana County Detention Center on charges of first- and fourth-degree criminal sexual penetration. Magistrate Judge Oscar Frietze set a cash bond of $250,000.

Gonzales is suspected of having a sexual relationship with the girl for nearly eight months. The alleged relationship between Gonzales and the girl ended in late September. The girl’s father reported the allegations to the county sheriff’s office as soon as the girl revealed the pregnancy and the preceding relationship.

Two of the eight counts of criminal sexual penetration are alleged to have taken place while the girl was 12 years old, and, because she was under the age of 13, the counts are first-degree felonies. The other six counts are fourth-degree, alleged to have taken place after she turned 13.
