DOÑA ANA PARK SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR WEEKEND PROJECT

Volunteers from throughout Doña Ana County are being solicited for a project Saturday, Oct. 26, to place 17 semi-truckloads of sod on the new ball field complex of the Doña Ana Village Park, which will be jointly maintained by Doña Ana County and village volunteers.

Work on the park will begin at 7 a.m. and continue through the day, with a short ceremony at noon for the benefit of area media. The park is located just southwest of the I-10 exit ramp to the village of Doña Ana.

The ball fields will be used for baseball, soccer and football, among other community activities. Laying the sod is part of a community-based effort to finish the first phase of the park before winter.
