WEST NILE VIRUS WORKSHOPS SCHEDULED IN LAS CRUCES, ANTHONY

Doña Ana County residents who are interested in learning more about the spread and prevention of the West Nile virus will have two opportunities this week to attend educational workshops sponsored by the Doña Ana County Vector Control Program and the New Mexico Department of Health.

The first workshop will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at the Las Cruces Public Schools Board Room in the Loretto Towne Centre at 505 S. Main St. The second workshop will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, from 4 – 5:30 p.m. at Anthony Elementary School.

Both workshops will provide area residents information about preventing exposure to mosquito-borne viruses through the elimination of home mosquito breeding sites and an aggressive government control program. Information also will be provided about how the virus is spread and what people can do to minimize exposure.

For more information, call the New Mexico District 3 Public Health Department at (505) 528-5001.
