COUNTY EMPLOYEES HOST BLOOD DRIVE IN MEMORY OF JUDY PRICE

The Second Annual Judy Price Blood Drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, in the Doña Ana County Manager’s Complex at 180 W. Amador Ave. in Las Cruces.

Price, who died of cancer Sept. 4, 2001, was a three-time interim county manager and a long-time director of the county’s Community Development Department. She was a patient at Memorial Medical Center when the county’s employees initiated the 2001 blood drive. After her death, the employees resolved to make the blood drive an annual event in her memory.

In 2001, more than 100 pints of blood were donated on the day of the drive. United Blood Services proclaimed the drive one of its most successful of the year.

To make an appointment to donate blood during the 2002 drive, call Janine Divyak at (505) 647-7240 or Barbara Richards at (505) 647-7241. People who wish to donate blood in Price’s memory but cannot attend the Aug. 1 drive may call United Blood Services at (505) 527-1322 to schedule an appointment.
