COUNTY INSPECTION OFFICIALS EARN NEW CERTIFICATIONS

Three Doña Ana County building inspectors have completed training and received certifications that will allow them to work more efficiently as a team.

Frank Torres, the county’s chief building official, has completed training and received certification in electrical inspections. His is now certified to inspect in the following areas: general building, plans examination, plumbing/mechanical and electrical. Torres, who joined the county in 1999 after a long career in the building inspections department of the City of Las Cruces, completed his electrical certification training May 10, 2002, in Albuquerque.

Joe Jiminez, Jr., completed his training and received certification for plumbing inspections May 10, 2002, also in Albuquerque. Jimenez joined the county as an electrical inspector in 2000.

Armado Alvillar, a veteran building inspector for the county who originally was hired in 1993, completed training and received certification May 24 for combination building inspections He also received his ICBO certification on that date.

The training received by Torres, Jimenez and Alvillar was conducted by the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO). Torres and Alvillar are members of the Southern New Mexico Association of Building Officials.
