DOÑA ANA ROAD TO BE RESURFACED; PUBLIC WARNED OF DELAYS

Doña Ana Road will be resurfaced and restriped, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001. The project is scheduled to be completed no later than Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001.
Crews from Cutler Repaving of Lawrence, Kan., will deeply groove the old surface and then attach new asphalt along a four-mile stretch of Doña Ana Road, beginning at the Las Cruces city limits and extending north to Thorpe Road.
During the project, traffic will be restricted to one lane on parts of Doña Ana Road, with alternating northbound and southbound traffic stopped while traffic from the other direction is accommodated through the construction area.
Drivers should expect moderate delays, and residents and businesses should be prepared for brief periods during which access to businesses and homes will be restricted or unavailable.
The project, which has a budget of $253,196 is being paid for through 75 percent funding from the state’s Local Government Road Fund and 25 percent from the county.
For more information, call county Public Information Director Jess Williams at (505) 647-7229. Residents calling from outside the Las Cruces area may call toll-free at 1-877-827-7200 and request extension 7229.
