COUNTY SEEKS ADA ADVISORY BOARD VOLUNTEERS

At the direction of the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners, an advisory board is being formed to help the county move more rapidly toward full compliance of the Americans With Disabilities Act.
County ADA Coordinator Armando Cordero said he is seeking applications from area residents who would be interested in serving on the new advisory board. Applications are available at the County Manager’s Complex at 180 W. Amador Ave. in Las Cruces. Residents who wish to have an application mailed to them may call (505) 647-7200. Residents calling from outside the Las Cruces area may call toll-free at 1-877-827-7200.

The advisory board will meet monthly once it is formally recognized by the commission. The time and place of the meetings has not yet been determined, pending an analysis of scheduling preferences submitted by the applicants.

The advisory board will study a broad range of issues related to ADA requirements and implementation and assist the county in setting priorities and identifying fast-track compliance methods. Deadline for applications is Friday, June 22, 2001.

For more information, call the county’s Facilities and Parks Department at (505) 647-7233 or use the county’s TTY line at (505) 647-7285.
