COUNTY BUILDING INSPECTIONS DEPARTMENT ADDS SERVICES, ADJUSTS FEES

Beginning Tuesday, March 13, 2001, the Doña Ana County Building Inspections Department will take over mechanical, plumbing and electrical permitting and inspections from the state’s Construction Industries Division.
“We’ve got the people and resources in place to begin offering these services,” said Chief Building Inspector Frank Torres. “This will streamline the permit and inspection process for residents and commercial enterprises in Doña Ana County by eliminating one trip. Adding these services to our permitting and inspection services for construction and mobile homes means that we can get people their certificates of occupancy in a more efficient and timely manner, assuming they pass their inspections.”
Also on Tuesday, March 13, permit and inspection fees will increase modestly in the county. The fee increases reflect the additional time and personnel needed for an expanded scope of services. The fee increases were approved by the Board of County Commissioners earlier in the year.
