ABSENTEE VOTING UNDERWAY; LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE IS OCT. 10

The Doña Ana County Clerk’s office reminds potential voters who have not yet registered that they must do so on or before Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, if they wish to vote in the 2000 Presidential Election. The voter registration process normally takes about 10 minutes. Registrations are processed in the Bureau of Elections Office on the first floor of the historic Doña Ana County Courthouse at 251 W. Amador Ave. in Las Cruces.
Absentee voting already is underway at the Bureau of Elections. Registered voters who cannot make it to the polls on Nov. 7 are encouraged to fill out an absentee ballot at the Bureau of Elections or arrange to have a ballot mailed to them at their current address.
Early voting at the Courthouse will get underway Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, and will continue through Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000.
For more information about early voting and voter registration, or to request an absentee ballot, call the Bureau of Elections at (505) 647-7429 or the Public Information Office at (505) 647-7229. Either office can be reached toll-free from outside Las Cruces by dialing 1-877-827-7200.
