COUNTY HIRES ROBERT J. HO-SHING AS INFORMATION SYSTEMS DIRECTOR

Robert J. Ho-Shing has been named director of Information Services for Doña Ana County, effective Monday, August 14, 2000.
Currently a resident of El Paso, Texas, Ho-Shing comes to the county from the Ysleta Independent School District, where he has been executive director of technology and information systems since 1997. Prior to that, Ho-Shing was a network manager for the El Paso County Health and Environmental Division, and a programmer/analyst for J&D Expo Productions in Canoga Park, Calif.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from University of Texas at El Paso, and he has completed course work in two master’s degree programs related to electrical engineering and computer resources and information management. He is a certified as both a Novell administrator and a Microsoft professional.
Interim County Manager Judith M. Price said she chose Ho-Shing because of his strong people skills, his extensive knowledge of systems, networks, telecommunications and administration, and his track record in obtaining grants for capital financing.
“Mr. Ho-Shing will be a good fit for the county,” Price said. “He knows how to lead and motivate people, and his knowledge of technology will allow us to continue to offer the highest quality of service both to our internal system users and to the public that relies on our system for information from the county’s web site.”
Ho-Shing will earn $63,000 per year in the position and will oversee an 11-member department.
