COUNTY SUSPENDS BUILDING INSPECTIONS APRIL 25-26 TO FACILITATE TRAINING

Doña Ana County will not schedule any building inspections on April 25 or April 26, 2000, to allow the staff of the building inspections division of the Community Development Department to attend a training seminar.
The training centers on the 2000 International Building Code and will include units on classification of building construction, means of egress, fire-resistant construction and fire-protection systems. The 2000 International Building Code takes effect Jan. 1, 2001.
The training seminar will be held at the Las Cruces Hilton. Registration costs for the county’s three inspectors will total $450.
“Sending the inspectors to out-of-town training sessions would have cost considerably more money for transportation, lodging and meals, and it probably would have resulted in a longer suspension of inspections,” said Jess Williams, county public information officer. “Sending the inspectors to the local training saves money and reduces downtime in the department.”
