COUNTY OFFICES, SOLID-WASTE TRANSFER STATIONS ANNOUNCE HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

Most Dona Ana County offices will be closed all day Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31, to commemorate Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, respectively. Emergency services and law enforcement will not be affected.

Selected key people will remain on call through the New Year’s weekend in the unlikely event that the so-called “Y2K bug” causes disruptions of power or service. Law enforcement and ambulance personnel will be deployed throughout the New Year’s weekend in the event of civil unrest or other unforseen disturbances.

The South Central Solid Waste Transfer Center and the county’s solid-waste convenience stations in Anthony, La Mesa, Hill, Butterfield, Mesquite, La Union, Hatch and Garfield will remain open Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31, but they will be closed all day Saturday, Dec. 25, and Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, as well as Saturday, Jan. 1, and Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000.

All county operations will resume regular hours and normal operations Monday, Jan. 3, 2000.
