COUNTY BRINGS NEW CHIEF BUILDING OFFICIAL ON BOARD

Doña Ana County has announced that Frank Torres has assumed the position of chief building official, working under the direction of Community Development Director Judy Price. He came on board with the county Dec. 6.

Torres holds building-inspection certifications from the both the International Congress of Building Officials (ICBO), and the State of New Mexico. He spent the last 13 years with the City of Las Cruces as a building inspector, but he also has a background as a private general contractor and builder, and he is a board member of the Southern New Mexico Association of Building Officials.

In addition, Torres was assistant maintenance supervisor for NMSU from 1983 to 1986; assistant construction coordinator for Tierra Del Sol from 1975 to 1986; and was a licensed building contractor for Sun View Homes from 1975 to 1986.

Torres is a graduate of Las Cruces High School, and he also has completed various construction, real estate and solar energy courses at Dona Ana Branch Community College.
