DOÑA ANA COUNTY TREASURER LAUDS SECOND-HALF TAX PROCESS

Second-half tax collections are going “hunky-dory,” County Treasurer David Gutierrez said Tuesday. With the deadline of May 10 fast-approaching, Gutierrez said most residents are mailing in their payments or bringing them in to the Courthouse.

“We’re almost done with the second-half taxes already,” Gutierrez said. “They’ve been coming in nice and steady, and the process is going very smoothly. All the bills printed properly and we’re using automatic readers, which have made a big difference in efficiency. There’s no more bundles of checks in the office to be sorted by hand like there used to be before I was elected. This time, we nailed it.”
