SWEARING-IN CEREMONY SCHEDULED FOR INCOMING PUBLIC OFFICIALS

A swearing-in ceremony for officials elected in November’s general election has been scheduled at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Dec. 31, at the recently renovated Doña Ana County Manager’s Complex at 180 W. Amador Ave. in Las Cruces.
County Manager Fernando Macias said the ceremony will be presided over by District Judge Robert Robles, and a wide range of state and local dignitaries will be invited to attend.
Macias said the following elected officials will be invited to be sworn in at the ceremony:
Dona Irwin, State Representative, District 32; J. Paul Taylor, State Representative, District 33; Mary Helen Garcia, State Representative, District 34; Benjamin B. Rios, State Representative, District 35; Smokey Blanton, State Representative, District 36; J. Andy Kissner, State Representative, District 37; Delores Wright, State Representative, District 52; John ‘Tony’ Schaefer, Public Regulatory Commission, District 5; Frances Stevens, State Board of Education; Oscar Frietze, Magistrate Judge, Division 1; Patrick Curran, Magistrate Judge, Division 3; Carlos Garza, County Commission, District 1; Joseph Cervantes, County Commission, District 3; Emma Johnson-Ortiz, Doña Ana County Assessor; Juan Hernandez, Doña Ana County Sheriff; and Olivia Garcia, Doña Ana County Probate Judge.

Macias noted that District Judge-elect Lou Martinez and Magistrate Judge-elect Susanna Chaparro will be sworn in at a separate ceremony scheduled for Dec. 21 at 4:15 p.m. the Doña Ana County Judicial Complex.
