NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
On July 9, 2019, the Board of County Commissioners of Doña Ana County (BOCC) directed that a public hearing be conducted at their Regular Meeting on August 13, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. on the question of whether to adopt a County Water and Sanitation Gross Receipts Tax. The public hearing will be held at the Doña Ana County Government Center located at 845 N. Motel Blvd.,

The Official Title of the proposed ordinance is: County Water and Sanitation Gross Receipts Tax
GENERAL SUMMARY: The County Water and Sanitation Gross Receipts Tax shall impose a gross receipts tax at a rate of one-fourth percent on a person engaging in business within the area of the county located within the Anthony water and sanitation district. Imposition of the tax is contingent upon a majority of the voters of the water and sanitation district, in an election on the question of whether to impose a water and sanitation gross receipts tax, voting in favor of the imposition. The revenue from the tax shall be dedicated for the operation of the Anthony water and sanitation district. The tax shall be imposed for six years from the date on which the water and sanitation gross receipts tax goes into effect. If the voters approve of the tax and the results of the election are submitted to the Taxation and Revenue Department before the end of March, 2020, the tax would go into effect on July 1, 2020.
The proposed ordinance is available for inspection at the Office of the County Clerk, Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 N. Motel Blvd., Las Cruces, New Mexico during regular business hours.
