DOÑA ANA COUNTY CLERK ANNOUNCES THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF REGISTRATION FOR CANCELATION OF REGISTRATION

Pursuant to Section 1-4-28 of the Election Handbook of the State of New Mexico, the Secretary of State, The County Clerk, and Board of Registration, in compliance with the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA), shall remove from the official list of eligible voters of who are ineligible to vote due to a change of residence. This process occurs each odd year and is based upon the results of the confirmation mailing the Secretary of State two years prior. In preparation for the 2021 voter registration file maintenance the Secretary of State conducted a uniform and non-discriminatory confirmation mailing in August 2018.

The board of registration is a public body, and as such, any meetings must be held subject to the New Mexico Open Meetings Act, which require 72-hour public notice.

Board of Registration meeting will be at the Doña Ana County Government Center in conference room 1-117.

The meeting dates for the Board of Registration are as follows:

Monday, March 1, 2021, at 9:00 a.m.

The Board of Registration will be sworn in and sign the oaths of office forms.

The Board of Registration will sign-in on the sign-in sheet.

The Board of Registration will be provided an instruction manual before the first meeting.

The County Clerk’s Office will give each member a paper copy of the removable voter list. Each Board of Registration member will take the list home for review.

Monday, March 8, 2021, at 9:00 a.m.

If any of the Board of Registration members have any concerns about any voter flagged for removal from the voter roll, they may ask the County Clerk’s office to bring up the voter’s history for review.

If the Board feels that a voter should stay “Active,” the Board of Registration must notify the County Clerk’s office in writing.

The County Clerk will remove those voters not deemed as remaining “Active” from the voter roll.

***If not completed on March 8, 2021, and the Board of Registration feels there should be another meeting then there will be a meeting on March 12, 2021.

Friday, March 12, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. (if needed)

Complete reviewing the list and turn in the final “Active” and “Removable” lists to the County Clerk’s Office.

The County Clerk will remove those voters not deemed as remaining “Active” from the voter roll.

Pursuant to state mandate and county policy, masks are required in the DAC.
