COUNTY INVITES LOCAL LEADERS OF ALL FAITHS TO ‘DAY OF PRAYER’ EVENT

Doña Ana County will host a May 4 event on the north lawn of the Doña Ana County Government Center to celebrate the National Day of Prayer.

“The Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners has traditionally issued annual proclamations calling attention to the National Day of Prayer, and the county also has staged these events to allow local leaders of faith to participate” said Doña Ana County Manager Julia T. Brown.

Local faith leaders who wish to speak at the event may submit a letter of interest to the Doña Ana County Special Projects Office. The letter should specify the name of the proposed speaker, along with his or her local faith affiliation, as well as daytime contact information. The deadline to submit a letter is 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 25.

Letters can be mailed to the Doña Ana County Special Projects Office at 845 N. Motel Blvd., Las Cruces, N.M. 88007 or emailed to input@donaanacounty.org or faxed to (575) 525-5948.

“We hope to have a program that highlights the rich diversity of faiths we enjoy in Doña Ana County, as well as to show the warm and cooperative ways that we can work together despite any differences in our systems of belief,” Brown said. “We will select the event speakers to ensure that diversity is reflected for those who attend this special event.”
