Doña Ana County

The Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners is making arrangements to interview six finalists for the permanent position of Doña Ana County Manager.

Working on a contract, Robert Garza of Las Cruces-based Garza & Associates, LLC, launched the national search in August. The opening was widely advertised nationally and regionally.

Garza reviewed the application pool in late September and presented the responsive application packets to the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners. After review in a Sept. 26 closed session, the commissioners selected the following six candidates as finalists:

            * William Christensen, County Manager of Kittson County, Minnesota

            * Eric Enriquez, Las Cruces Fire Chief

            * Fernando Macias, Third Judicial District Judge

            * Chuck McMahon, Interim Doña Ana County Manager

            * Gerald Mecca, self-employed financial advisor in Pittsford, New York

            * Scott Sensanbaugher, Assistant Director of the City of El Paso’s Capital Improvement Department

Garza will meet again with the commissioners on Oct. 11 to finalize the interview process and materials, after which interviews will be scheduled.

“I’m pleased with the scope of the search, the quality of the finalists and the timeline under which we’re operating,” said Doña Ana County Commission Chairwoman Isabella Solis. “I’m confident in this board’s collective ability to emerge from this process with a selection that will allow the county to advance its important work for the foreseeable future, and I’m very grateful to Mr. McMahon for his steady leadership during the process. Similarly, I commend Mr. Garza and the county’s Human Resources Department for facilitating a smooth and productive search.”
