DUE TO HEAVY TURNOUT, CLERK MOVES TO REDUCE WAIT TIMES

DUE TO HEAVY TURNOUT, CLERK MOVES TO REDUCE WAIT TIMES

Due to heavy voter turnout for today’s mil-levy election, Doña Ana County Clerk Lynn Ellins is about to add personnel, voting booths and machines at the Doña Ana County Government Center.

The streamlined process is scheduled to begin at about 1:30 p.m. and should dramatically reduce the amount of time people have to stand in line to vote at 845 N. Motel Blvd.

“This is a significantly higher turnout than an election of this nature has ever generated,” Ellins said. “We encourage people who are encountering long lines at the other four locations to consider driving to the Doña Ana County Government Center to cast their ballots.”

Polls are open until 5 p.m., and Ellins said anyone standing in line at 5 p.m. will be allowed to participate in the election.
