Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services is actively recruiting professionals who want to be part of a growing and progressive department committed to providing quality customer service. Volunteer firefighters respond to calls for service in their communities such as fires, Emergency Medical Services Calls, natural disasters, and public service assistance calls. They also participate in community events and promote the prevention of fires and other emergencies.
Becoming a volunteer firefighter is a challenging, exciting and rewarding way to better yourself as a person and serve your community. There are unlimited opportunities for training and advancement. Learn to help others in a time when they can’t help themselves!
Interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter? You must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid NM or TX driver’s license. Complete an application (pdf) and bring it to our office or drop it off at your local fire station.
As a New Mexico Volunteer Firefighter you may be eligible to receive a pension from Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA). Qualifying members can receive $250 per month or $125 per month upon meeting requirements.
