The Doña Ana County Planning and Zoning Commission will consider the following land use cases at their regular meeting to be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 9:00 a.m., in the County Commissioner’s Chambers at Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 N. Motel Boulevard, Las Cruces, New Mexico.

OLD BUSINESS
PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT OVERLAY ZONE

4. Case# PUD 06-002: Submitted by Ralph Richards and Stanley Jobe, a request for a Planned Unit Development Type Two Overlay Zone (PUD-2) to construct a new railroad spur on a 21.1-acre parcel to allow transport of construction materials and agricultural products from rail cars to semi trucks. In addition, the applicant is proposing to construct three (3) 100’ X 150’ warehouses, three (3) storage silos 24’ in diameter X 50’ in height, and a 70’ long truck scale. The subject properties are located within Section 15, Township 26S, Range 3E, and can further identified by Map Code # 4-016-153-135-009 and 4-016-153-180-158.

VARIANCE

5. Case# CV07-002: Submitted by Petroleum Wholesale, a request for a Variance to the maximum amount of signage and a Variance to the maximum allowed sign square footage. Doña Ana County Land Use Regulations and Zoning Ordinance allows only One (1) freestanding (ground, pole, portable) sign of up to 200 square feet, or two (2) freestanding signs of up to 100 square feet of each is allowed per lot with more than 600’ of street frontage. The subject parcel has approximately 879 feet of street frontage along Vado Drive and Stern Drive. The applicant is proposing one, approximately 20 foot tall Cat Scale sign with a sign cabinet approximately 110 square feet in size, in addition to the existing three (3) signs bringing the total number of free standing signs to four (4). Also, the applicant is requesting that the total square footage for the existing message center cabinet located in the southeast corner of the lot be increased from 288 square feet to 576 square feet. The subject parcel is located at 1715 Vado Drive (Vado Travel Center) an is located in Township 25 South, Range 3 East, Section 21 and can be further located by Map Code # 4-015-148-229-026.
