SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT SEEKS GRANT FUNDING

SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT SEEKS GRANT FUNDING

The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department has applied for a grant through the U.S. Department of Justice, the Office of Justice Programs and the National Institute of Justice Programs.

The grant seeks an assessment of data-driven approaches to crime and traffic safety. If the sheriff’s department is successful in securing the funding, the grant will support, in part, an effort to fund a new computer-tracking system for all Doña Ana County law enforcement, fire and emergency management personnel.

Funding could be awarded as early as September 2012, and individual amounts of the awards may vary. The application deadline is June 8, 2012.

The public is invited to learn more or ask questions as part of the application process. Queries may be directed to grants administrator Vincent Pokluda at (575) 525-8838.
