Doña Ana County



Certified Public Accountant Brian D. Haines has been named Interim Doña Ana County Manager by the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners, whose members met Monday, April 14, 2003.

Haines currently is the county’s director of Financial Services, and he will retain the responsibilities of that position while assuming the duties of county manager. The Commission approved a salary increase to $90,000 for Haines for as long as he performs as county manager. Commission Chairman Paul B. Curry instructed Haines to present a plan at the April 22 Commission meeting for recruiting a permanent county manager. Haines was given the full and complete authority of the county manager’s position until a permanent manager is named.

Haines, 47, received his CPA certification in 1988. He has 15 years of public accounting experience specializing in government audits, including 10 years with the Las Cruces firm of Kriegel and Co., Ltd. During his tenure at Kriegel, Haines was the audit partner in charge of Doña Ana County’s annual audit.

The Commission also formalized a new meeting schedule. Beginning Tuesday, April 22, 2003, the Board of County Commissioners will meet twice monthly on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. All meetings will begin at 9 a.m.
