DOÑA ANA COUNTY FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES ADJUSTS TO PANDEMIC, CONTINUES TRAINING

Doña Ana County’s Fire & Emergency Services Department will offer its first hybrid training ever, a Firefighter One Certification starting in November.

“Before the pandemic, we were not prepared to train cadets remotely, so we had to learn, adjust and do so very quickly,” Fire Chief Eric Crespin said.  “Now, we are excited to offer a hybrid training which means classroom time will be replaced with remote learning and the physical training will follow social distancing and disinfecting guidelines, while wearing masks.”

Virtual training will still include an instructor, testing and discussion.  To attend the course, firefighters must have access to a computer, video camera, microphone, speakers and access to the Internet.

The schedule of classes will be extended by several weeks, to accommodate remote learning needs and working in smaller groups for skill training, drills and evolutions.
