HUD Increases income limits making more households eligible for help
HUD recently increased the area median income, AMI limits which the County uses to determine eligibility for rent and utilities assistance. Effective immediately, the updated income limits, listed below mean more households may qualify for the emergency rental assistance, ERA program.

County Collaboration with NMDOT improves road safety and saves money
After evaluating the options of removing or replacing the bridge, “We decided to maintain the bridge and repair the railing to its original standards,” Moabed said, which will extend the its useful life. The repair on both the north and south side of the guardrail is slated for completion June 10.

Doña Ana County will host the first annual Creativity Fest 2024
We will celebrate working artists, area arts and cultural businesses at an inaugural Creativity Fest 2024 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at the Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 North Motel Blvd. It is one of 11 live festivals being organized throughout the state.

County Clerk's Office announces early voting numbers
Unofficial participation numbers up to this point reflect approximately 5,501 early ballots cast and 1,972 absentee ballots cast. As of Monday morning, 7.9% of eligible voters have cast their ballot in Doña Ana County.

County announces beginning of Shalem Colony Park and Trail project
Doña Ana County was awarded $85,366 from the New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Trails and Grant Program, to design and develop and new park and trail on twenty acres near the Rio Grande River at the Shalem Colony Bridge, on the outskirts of the city of Las Cruces.

Lomas Ave. closure scheduled starting May 27

The County Clerk's Office announced that a groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the new Bureau of Elections Warehouse at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23 at 2821 Las Vegas Court in Las Cruces.

Sheriff's Office will conduct sobriety checkpoints through the end of May
The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office (DASO) began conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols at the beginning of May and will continue through the end of the month, in an effort to reduce the number of crashes, injuries and deaths related to Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).
